Pedro’s Green Club
Why we set up Pedro’s green club…as Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
We run fun and educational Green Club sessions in nurseries and children’s groups to teach children through games, activities about recycling and living a greener life. The sessions can be booked ad hoc, tied into environmental awareness weeks. Information for sessions in schools can be found here.
We have an exciting resource pack of visual props to help children understand that rubbish must be treated as a waste resource and illustrate what amazing models, products and “art” they can make with recycled materials.
We also feature inspirational products which have been professionally made, with examples for the girls and some for the boys! The children learn what they can and can’t recycle, then play games to reinforce recycling and respecting the natural world around them.
These activities are relevant to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, and develop social and attention skills, language, maths, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical movement and creativity.
Games for the younger children include:
The Green Race – whereby the children take an item from a box containing mixed materials, race down the room or playground and put them in the “good bin” or the “naughty bin”.
Green Art - making models, toys and inventions out of ‘treasure,’ some people would call it trash or rubbish!
Nature Masks – making masks out of cereal boxes.
10 Tin Bowling – bowling fun using painted steel tins which have been numbered, great for numbers and maths.
Green Gardening – painting and planting up yogurt pots with wildlife friendly seeds – flowers and herbs.
And many more games depending on the children’s age, interests and nursery or group.
At the end of sessions with younger children, they love being made ‘Green Warriors’ with the presentation of special stickers and then being sent out on a recycling mission.

A one off, weekly, monthly or ad hoc, the choice is yours.
“Education for sustainable development enables people to develop the knowledge, values and skills to participate in decisions about the way we do things individually and collectively, both locally and globally, that will improve the quality of life now, without damaging the planet for the future.”
