On Saturday 5th April 9.30am – 12 noon there are certainly going to be thousands of plastic bottle tops at the Quaker Meeting House in Horsham, as volunteers gather to do their bit for the environment. I have just read a really interesting article stressing the importance of play for children, where the author Dr Peter Gray compares human children to Carnivores and herbivores! He says “There is a desperate need to give childhood back to children if we want our offspring to have happy productive and moral lives. We must allow more time for play not less, are you listening Michael Gove Secretary of State for Education”.
Worthing is on the map! The Project Wild Thing film is coming to Sussex on 6th March! Project Wild Thing is a movement to get more kids (and their folks!) outside and reconnecting with nature.

Hot news…. William Penn Primary School comes 13th in a UK wide biscuit wrapper recycling competition!
Sussex Green Living have been working with the William Penn Primary School in Coolham to launch and establish their TerraCycle recycling schemes, more information can be seen here. One of the waste resources they can recycle is sweet biscuit wrappers. The recycling scheme is sponsored by Mc Vitie’s, here are the competition results from TerraCycle……

Sussex Green Living is competing in the UK wide Biscuit Wrapper Recycling competition, the beneficiary being the William Penn Primary School in Coolham. This competition is to see who can save the most used sweet biscuit wrappers (and brand) from landfill. At the time of writing this blog we were 18th in the UK. With a final push over the next 3 weeks we could be in with a chance of winning anything between £250 – £20 for the school, plus save all those biscuit wrappers from landfill.

The traditional brown bags of days gone by are not only out of style in a modern lunch room, they are also a wasteful use of paper and are not the most efficient choice.
