11th – 17th February – Green Week. Go Green Week is People & Planet’s annual national week of action on climate change in schools, colleges and universities. Find out more here.

23rd February 10am to 2pm Seedy Saturday. Transition Horsham, Friends Meeting House, Worthing Road, Horsham RH12 1SL (opposite Sainsburys). This is an annual seed swap and opportunity to learn about our precious planet and ways in which you can help to protect it for future generations. 25th February – 10th March – Fairtrade Fortnight.     This brings together consumers, retailers, licensees, businesses, producers and campaigners nationwide to promote awareness and sales of Fairtrade products and campaign on issues of trade justice. Learn more here.

4th – 10th March – Climate Week.  Climate Week is Britain’s biggest climate change campaign, inspiring a new wave of action to create a sustainable future.  Each year, half a million people attend 3,000 events in Britain’s biggest ever environmental occasion. Events are run by schools, businesses, charities, councils and many others. Find out more here.

8th March – Energy Cafe & Fair Trade Event at Thomas Becket Middle School, Worthing.  Energy Cafe & Fair Trade Event for parents, children and teachers.  Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand, Pedro and his recycled robots were there, playing green games and giving ideas as to how people can lead a greener life.

11th – 17th March – Waste Week. In 2012 3700 schools took part in the first campaign learning about how to reduce waste associated with food; Waste Week 2013 will focus on the practical things that can be made from waste products. Find out more.

19th March Outdoor Learning Conference at West Chiltington Community School, West Chiltington.  Sussex Green Living gave talks on ways the children and teachers can reduce their waste and make wonderful compost in their school grounds.

23rd March – Earth Hour. WWF’s Earth Hour is about people coming together to put the focus on this brilliant world we all share – and how we need to protect it. Not just for an hour a year, but every day.  Turn off your lights for at least one hour, if not all your electricity! Use candles or the light from the fire like they used to in the good old days!

Sussex Green Living held a Candlelit Green Drinks evening under the stars on 23rd March from 8.30pm until late.  You can learn more about Earth Hour and annual Earth Hour event here.

19th April – Green Club session with the Rudgwick Scouts.  Pedro and his recycled robots were joined by 35 scouts who learnt about reducing, reusing, recycling and played green games.

22nd April – Earth Day.  More than one billion people around the world will take part in the 43rd Anniversary of Earth Day. From Beijing to Cairo, Melbourne to London, Madrid to Johannesburg, Rio to New York, communities everywhere will voice their concerns for the planet, and take action to help protect it.  Learn more about Earth Day here.

27th – 28th April – Pooh House and Gardens, Fittleworth.  Family open weekends, face painting, bug hunting, trail with 8 gardens in 1.  Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand, Pedro and his recycled robots were there, playing green games and giving ideas as to how people can lead a greener life.  Learn more here.

30th April – The Worthing and Adur E.Y.E. Project Eco-Summit at Davison High School, Worthing.   Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand, Pedro and his recycled robots were there, playing green games and giving ideas as to how people can lead a greener life.  Photos can be viewed here.

2nd May – Green Club session with Rudgwick Beavers.  Pedro and his recycled robots were joined by 34 beavers who learnt about reducing, reusing, recycling and played green games.

6th – 12th May – Compost Awareness Week. 

11th May – Southwater Horticultural Society Plant Sale, Southwater Village Hall, Church Lane, Southwater. 10 – 12 noon.  Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand were there, talking about how you can save money making your own compost and recycling food waste.

12th May – The South Downs Green Fair at the Sustainability Centre, just over the boarder in Hampshire.  Families can try their hand at bushcraft, clay-sculpturing, green suppliers, seed swapping, music, food and much more.

24th – 27th May – Elderflower Fields 2013 at  Bently Wildfowl and Motor Museum, Nr Lewis, East Sussex.  Set in the stunning grounds of the Bentley Estate, Elderflower Fields Festival is a quality and great value family festival in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside. It is a magical weekend of activities in an exciting and safe environment, designed especially with families and children in mind. Directions and more information can be found here.

2nd June – Sussex Festival of Nature, Stanmer Park, Brighton.  The festival covers four exciting zones: woodland, downland, marine and cityparks / gardens and will include: farmers market selling locally sourced produce, birds of prey, sheep shearing, heavy horses, climbing activities, biosphere, tractor rides, Morris dancing, food, bar and much more. Learn more here.

5th June – World Environment Day.  World Environment Day is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. World Environment Day activities take place all year round but climax on 5 June every year, involving everyone from everywhere.  Learn more here.

14th – 15th June – Eco Technology Show, The Brighton Centre, Brighton.  The Eco Technology Show is an exhibition and conference showcasing low carbon technologies across domestic, commercial and public buildings, energy, transport and lifestyle sectors. It highlights how we can all embrace new developments in technologies to save money and deliver genuine benefits to both business and communities on-going.  On 15th June Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand, Pedro and his recycled robots will be at the show, playing green games and giving ideas about how people can lead a greener life.  Courtesy of Take One Productions (UK) Ltd we will be playing a couple of videos, one is about Water Conservation and the other about how landfill waste is now producing energy for the national grid.  We are supplying a ‘Waste Resource Recycling Zone, so bring along your recycling (things the council cannot recycle).

7th – 23rd June – Recycling WeekRecycling Week brings a national focus to the environmental benefits of recycling. Now in its 17th year, this established and highly regarded annual campaign continues to educate and stimulate behaviour change.  It gives people the tools to minimise waste and manage material resources responsibly at home, work and school.

15th -16th and 22 – 23rd June – Eco Open Houses 2013, Brighton and Hove. Whether you are a home owner or tenant wanting to find out what you can do in your home to save money and feel healthier and warmer, a builder looking for better ways to build for your clients or just simply curious, come and be inspired by visiting an eco-home.

15th – 23rd June – Bike Week. Get on your bike for the UK’s biggest cycling campaign, this has got to be the greenest form of transport!  Find out more here.

22nd June – Southwater School Summer Fete, Southwater.  Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand, Pedro and his recycled robots will be there, playing green games and giving ideas as to how people can lead a greener life.

23rd June – Baby & Toddler Show, Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre. The Sussex Green Living recycled robots will be in attendance to illustrate what can and can’t be recycled in West Sussex.

7th July – Freddy Smile Family Day, Lancing Beach Green, Lancing.  A family fun day to raise money for this fabulous children’s charity http://freddysmile.co.uk.   Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand, Pedro and his recycled robots will be there, playing green games and giving ideas as to how people can lead a greener life.  Oh and Pedro is running in the mascot race!

7th August – National Playday event, Victoria Park, Haywards Heath.  The Sussex Green Living recycled robots have been invited to run some green activities at this event.  The aim of the event is to engage families with the park, its facilities and it natural aspects, the theme being ‘Nature and the environment’.  There will be games and competitions such as fancy dress competition for the under 8 ‘s, a recycling treasure hunt, football, archery, egg and spoon race, inspirational eco art and much more. Sunday 25th August – Sussex Green Living geocache (modern day treasure hunt) location to be finalised nearer the date.  Put on your walking boots, sun hat, binoculars, pack a picnic and join us for a trek in the countryside to find hidden treasure.  More information about Geocaching here and here.  If you would like come on this date or be kept informed about future dates just email us. Bank Holiday Monday 26th August 10 – 4pm – Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital, Cow Lane, Siddlesham, Nr Chichester, PO20 7LN – Wildlife and Environmental Awareness Day – “Redressing the balance”.  Although entrance is free, they would be grateful if you could give a tins of dog/cat food on arrival! 30th August – Billingshurst Children and Family Centre.  Green summer holidays session, recycling and eco art.

13th – 15th September – Over the Moon Festival, Hempstead Lane, Hailsham, East Sussex.  A family-focused event which will celebrate music, art and environmental awareness. Find out more here.

14th September – Southwater Church Fete, Southwater.

22nd September – Apple Festival, Stanmer Park, Brighton.  This is a traditional family  seasonal celebration in and around the orchards at Stanmer Park.  With lots of cider and home made apple goodies, storytelling, tugs of war, morris dancing and much more.

26th September 8.00 pm – Focus on preserving harvest for Transition Horsham at the Quaker Meeting House, Worthing Road, Horsham RH12 1SL (opposite Sainsburys). Open to all, donation invited.

4th – 6th October – Transition Camp at Wowo campsite, Wapsbourne Manor Farm, Nr Uckfield, TN22 3QT.  A family event to celebrate, share skills, visions, our hopes, fears, tell tales, sing songs, discuss plans, ideas, dreams, to relax, share food, have fun, reconnect, marvel at dark starry skies, sit round open fires, heat up in a sauna and just be with and support each other.  Workshops include bushcraft, kids magic, bike maintenance, foraging and a great deal more plus whatever skills you bring to share. Find out more here.

7th November 7 – 9pm – Christmas Fete at the William Penn Primary School, Coolham.  Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand, Pedro and his recycled robots will be at the fete, selling some recycled products, green books and giving ideas about how people can lead a greener life. More information about our recycled stand and green merchandise can be found here.

14th November 8- 10.30pm – Green Wine Tasting evening for Sussex Green Living network members.  By invitation only.

7th December 10 – 12 noon – Horsham’s Green Market at Quaker Meeting House, Worthing Road, Horsham RH12 1SL (opposite Sainsburys).  Here is a chance for you to fill your empty bottles with Ecover – washing up liquid, all-purpose cleaner, fabric softener and laundry liquid. The Sussex Green Living’s 100% recycled stand, Pedro and his recycled robots will be there promoting and selling recycled merchandise made by and for the financial benefit of the Philippine Community Fund.  We will be selling other recycled products, green books and giving ideas about how people can lead a greener life. More information about our recycled stand and green merchandise can be found here.  Other green exhibitors will be present.

18th November – 1st December – Switch-Off Fortnight.  Thousands of schools take part in our Switch Off Fortnight campaign every year, some reporting savings of 20% on their energy bills.  The campaign is an excellent way to teach students about the energy issues impacting our country and the importance of using energy efficiently. It is deliberately timed for the start of the darker and colder months when we start to use more heating and lighting.  Find out more here.

28th November – Transition Horsham monthly talk. Subject to be confirmed.  The talk by Carolyn Crouch from Biffa West Sussex Ltd about the flagship Mechanical Biological Treatment facility in Horsham, has been postponed.  Date to be confirmed soon.

12th December – Transition Horsham Christmas Party at the Quaker Meeting House, Worthing Road, Horsham RH12 1SL (opposite Sainsburys).
