Saturday 25th September sees many local community, faith and environmental groups come together to celebrate the Climate Coalition Great Big Green Week. The Horsham Great Green Day will provide an inspiring festival style blend of song, music, food, fun, facts and services to help our pockets and the planet.

Our exciting day begins at 10am and the grand opening of the new Sussex Green Hub by the High Sheriff of West Sussex is at 11.30am.

We’ll also be reopening the much-loved Horsham Repair Café and groups such as Transition Horsham, Horsham Community Fridge and Horsham Eco-Churches will be present as well – so treat yourself to a cuppa and a cake prepared by the kind United Reformed Church volunteers while you enjoy a chat with us!

The Sussex Green Hub will be in the URC Hall (behind Wilko) on the last Saturday of every month from 10am- 4pm at the same time as the monthly Vegan Market in Piries Place.

The Hub has been made possible thanks to a grant from HDC and a kind donation of £1,000 by John Lewis of Horsham, who have also donated a Great Green Week Hamper (worth £150 plus), which will be on display in the Hub.  The winner will be chosen in December from those who participate in our ‘Small Green Steps Survey’.

Also in attendance will be Horsham Fairtrade, outside St John the Evangelist Church (right opposite the URC) to share ways in which our shopping habits can help farmers and producers around the world, growing not just crops but growing environmental and social justice too.

And that’s not all!
Only a stone’s throw away in the Bishopric (by The Entertainer) our Bright New Future Roadshow will be popping up in mini festival style. The Mobile School Woodland Theatre will feature a woodland stage for songs, poetry and music, food chain games and incredible art display showing the evolution of planet Earth. Our Inspiration Eco Station (a retrofitted milk float!) will provide colourful displays with a focus on recycling during National Recycling Week, ably staffed by our Womble recycling volunteers.  And as if that wasn’t already enough, our Bright New Future Gameshow will provide fun and laughter as people explore inspiring environmental solutions using games, music and song.

Horsham District Council will be in attendance with information about their Community Climate Fund, (which helped fund our projects) and also offering advice on their energy saving schemes and wellbeing services.

So whether you want to spectate or participate, there is something for everybody. Repairs, refills, renewable energy, recycling, repurpose or recreate, come and join us at this Great Green Day.
