Single use Plastics

We work with a number of charities and companies who recycle the single-use plastics listed below. TerraCycle is one of the companies: they are an innovative recycling company that has become a global leader in recycling hard-to-recycle materials. This scheme helps diverts billions of waste resources from our landfills and incinerators, recycling them to make new products.  We also recycle ink cartridges.

Income generated through our recycling benefits: Purple Community Fund, Springboard Project, William Penn School, Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and Sussex Green Living.

PLEASE could you sort your collected items and put them into separate bread bags (which are recycled too!). This will save us so much time.  Thank you.

This PDF flyer includes what we can recycling through TerraCycle and all our drop off locations within Horsham District. Share me, like me, tweet me, Instagram me, print and put me on your fridge!

Inkjet cartridge recycling

We recycle inkjet cartridges through Recycle 4 Charity. We can only take ink cartridges which are on the wanted list – HP, Dell, Lexmark, Canon, Samsung, Brother, Frama, Pitney Bowes, Kodak and Neopost. We can take refill cartridges but do not get donations for them. They can be dropped off at any of our drop off locations in Horsham District or you can request a box or bags and nominate us as your chosen charity, learn more here. Quote our reference C73431.

Mobile phone, table and Apple laptop recycling

These should not be put in our drop off bins due to data protection. Please ‘drop and donate’ at the Sussex Green Hub on the last Saturday of any month. We will then dispatch them securely to our supplier who has certified Data Erasure and Environmental Accreditation, so you can recycle with complete confidence. If
you want to earn by recycling your old mobiles, you can check out Freedom Mobiles. On their website, you can compare the prices of mobile recyclers for free and in real-time. Learn more about the Sussex Green Hub here.

Set up your own drop-off location

If you’d like to set up your own single use plastic recycling drop-off location, then our easy how-to page will help you get started with the Sussex Green Living scheme (opens in new tab).

TerraCycle provides many drop off locations across the UK, each recycling slightly different things so there may well be a site near you that meets your needs.

These posters show in more detail the waste resources we recycle through TerraCycle. Our parish micro drop-off locations can choose to recycle – one, some or all of these waste types.
