This is our Community Year of Green Action, working with other Horsham based community and faith groups we are really excited to announce the launch of the Sussex Green Hub, opening Saturday 25th September.
When: Last Saturday every month 10-4 p.m.
Where: United Reformed Church (URC), 45 Springfield Road, Horsham RH12 1PT (behind Wilko just off of West Street).
The High Sheriff of Sussex, Neil Hart, will officially open the Sussex Green Hub at 11:30 a.m.
This event will celebrate the reopening of the Horsham Repair Cafe after 1 1/2 years of closure. Also present each month will be Transition Horsham, Horsham Eco Churches, Horsham Community Fridge and of course Sussex Green Living, we will be on hand to offer inspiring advice and services to help people on their greening journey.
The Sussex Green Hub and our Bright New Future Roadshow will be open to the public from 10am until 4pm.
FYI we are asking that anyone coming into the URC has been double jabbed and wears a mask, as an extra precaution for our wonderful volunteers, many of whom are retired and have been shielding hard. Ideally only one person per repair and we will ask parents to keep their children strictly under control and sitting next to them within the URC as part of our covid precautions.
The United Reformed Church plan to have some tables and chairs in our 5 x 3 gazebo to the left of the URC where people will be able to enjoy light refreshments (Weather permitting)
Our Bright New Future Roadshow including our Inspiration Eco Station (retrofitted milk float) will be in the Bishopric outside The Entertainer. There will be music, song, games and our Sussex Green Living Wombles (recycling volunteers) on the float sharing their recycling knowledge as this is National Recycling Week 2021.
Horsham District Council will be sharing information about energy and their Community Climate Fund. Horsham Fairtrade will have a stall under the arches at St Johns and be sharing info about their parish “Live Simply” initiative.
Climate Coalition Great Big Green Week event
This is registered as a Climate Coalition Great Big Green Week event. During this week community hubs will celebrate local activity, raise the profile of climate change and show why it is relevant to our community and local decision makers. The Great Big Green Week will take place 18 – 26 September 2021, and will be the largest event for climate and nature ever seen in the UK. Thousands of events will celebrate how communities are taking action to tackle climate change and protect green spaces, and encourage others to get involved too. Together we will call on politicians to raise their ambition and champion action on climate change. Learn more here.
